Fort Wayne Cinema Center will host a 1970s-themed Oscars Gala the night before the Academy Awards.
The March 14 event begins at 6 p.m. and includes a red carpet, hors d’oeuvres, raffles, an Oscars prediction contest, music and a screening of the 1972 classic “The Godfather.”
The downtown arthouse theater, 437 E. Berry St., was founded in 1976 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
“Film is more than entertainment – it’s a window into new worlds, a catalyst for connection, and a force that shapes the future,” board president Matthew Bochard says in an email announcing the event. “As we look ahead to the Academy Awards, we’re celebrating not just the best films of the year, but the evolving landscape of cinema and the incredible moments we’ve shared at Cinema Center.”
Tickets are $60 for general admission and $125 for VIP access in advance at CinemaCenter.org. VIP access includes early entry, a T-shirt, red carpet photos with a photographer, two drink tickets and five raffle tickets.
Tickets at the door will be $70 for general admission and $140 for VIP tickets.
